Luxury fashion house LOEWE is set to unveil its first major exhibition, "Crafted World," at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre this spring.
This immersive experience promises to be a captivating exploration of the brand's 178-year history, celebrating its Spanish heritage, unwavering dedication to craftsmanship, and its journey to becoming a global leader in fashion.
Crafted by LOEWE's acclaimed creative director Jonathan Anderson, the exhibition transcends a simple showcase. It invites visitors on an interactive journey through time, space, and material, spanning 1,600 square meters. Expect to encounter iconic designs, historical artifacts, and captivating artworks, all woven together to tell the story of LOEWE's evolution.
From its humble beginnings as a leather-making collective in Madrid in 1846 to its current status as a fashion powerhouse, the exhibition delves into pivotal moments, including its appointment as an official supplier to the Spanish Royal Crown and its acquisition by LVMH. You'll also discover the establishment of the LOEWE Foundation, the opening of the first LOEWE store in China in 2001, and the brand's recent rejuvenation under Anderson's vision.
The exhibition will highlight the work of artisans from around the world, including Indian ribbon weavers, Ecuadorian tapestry makers, South African basket weavers, and Chinese bamboo crafters. These collaborations showcase the brand's global perspective and its appreciation for diverse artistic traditions. The exhibition is not just visually stunning; it promises to be an engaging experience for all senses. Interactive elements will allow visitors to delve deeper into LOEWE's design process, materials, and techniques. Expect to touch, listen, and even participate in activities that bring the brand's story to life.
Open to the public free of charge from March 22nd to May 5th, 2024, "Crafted World" is an opportunity for anyone with an interest in fashion, history, or craftsmanship to immerse themselves in LOEWE's unique world. This landmark exhibition is not to be missed, and it's sure to leave a lasting impression on visitors long after they step out of the Shanghai Exhibition Centre.
