Pioneering a new form of Pre-Fall collections.
Louis Vuitton unveiled the first of its Women's Voyager Shows last Thursday in Shanghai. A new chapter for the brand, the aptly named "Voyager Show" replaced the traditional pre-fall format, showcasing Nicolas Ghesquière's latest collection against the backdrop of the Long Museum West Bund.
2024 marks a special year for Louis Vuitton, as it celebrates Nicolas Ghesquière's ten years at the helm. The pre-fall collection embodied this spirit of celebration, serving as an exploration of Ghesquière's decade-long journey with the brand. Ghesquière's vision for Pre-Fall 2024 was one of bold contrasts coupled with vibrant energy. The collection certainly defied expectations, juxtaposing classic materials with graphic patterns and a playful mix of short and long silhouettes.

The most vivid part of the collection was the colour palette, a collaboration with contemporary artist Sun Yitian. Yitian's influence was evident in the use of exotic animal prints and pops of colour, infusing the garments with a youthful spirit that resonated with Chinese youth culture. Statement outerwear was a key component, with structured pieces offering a sophisticated counterpoint to the playful prints and patterns. Sleek separates provided a touch of modern elegance, whilst the iconic Petite Malle and Twist bags received a fresh, modernised interpretation.
The collection was a celebration of travel, a core value for Louis Vuitton. The "Voyager" theme, now encompassing all destination shows, underscored the brand's commitment to exploration and discovery.
