The Awards will take place on December 4th at the Royal Albert Hall and will celebrate British-based talents.
Bianca Saunders, Martine Rose, Robert Wun, Grace Wales Bonner, Saul Nash, and Nensi Dojaka are among the nominees for the upcoming Fashion Awards 2023. The event, which aims to celebrate the designers and talents disrupting the fashion industry throughout the year, is also the primary fundraiser for the BFC. The categories are divided between British Designer of the Year for both Menswear and Womenswear, Model of the Year. The New Establishment awards, originally launched in 2011, are also making a return having been reinstated this year.
Through the first stage of the voting process, the nominees were selected by established industry members such as Tank Magazine’s Fashion Editor Caroline Issa, Jeanie Annan-Lewin, creative director for The Perfect Magazine, and Brown’s Buying Director, Ida Petersson. The final decision will be made by a voting committee consisting of over 1,000 leading industry members. The winners of each category will be awarded with funding and business mentoring. For the first time, the public will have the chance to vote for Model of the Year.
Kiko Kostadinov, Wales Bonner, Kim Jones (for Dior Men), Martin Rose, and Steven Stokey-Daley for (S.S.Daley) are the nominees for British Menswear Designer of the Year. The nominees for British Womenswear Designer of the Year include renowned designers such as Erdem Moralıoğlu, Simone Rocha, Roksanda Ilinčić, Maximilian Davis for Ferragamo, and Nensi Dojaka.
The Model of the Year nominees that will be selected by the public are Alton Mason, Paloma Elsesser, Liu Wen, Mona Tougaard, Anok Yai, and Kai-Isaiah Jamal.
New Establishment Womenswear nominations include Chopova Lowena, Dilara Fındıkoğlu, KNWLS, Robert Wun, and Supriya Lele, whilst Bianca Saunders, Corteiz, LABRUM London, Nicholas Daley, and Saul Nash have been selected Menswear.
On top of those already announced, special awards will be given for the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, Outstanding Achievement Award, Leader of Change, and several Special Recognition Awards. Another 50 innovative young creative talents will be recognised as part of the NEW WAVE: Creatives.
