Chanel has announced the appointment of Kendrick Lamar as its newest brand ambassador. The Grammy Award-winning and Pulitzer Prize-honoured rapper will be the face of the French luxury house's eyewear line, with his debut campaign set to launch later this week.
This partnership signifies a fresh direction for Chanel's eyewear division, embracing the unique artistry and cultural impact of Lamar. The 37-year-old Compton native, celebrated for his introspective lyricism and genre-bending sound, joins a select group of male figures associated with the iconic brand, including Timothée Chalamet and G-Dragon.
Lamar's connection with Chanel has been developing over the past couple of years. He notably attended the 2023 Met Gala in a custom Chanel ensemble designed by the then-creative director Virginie Viard. Further solidifying their creative synergy, Lamar and his creative partner Dave Free contributed to Chanel's January 2024 haute couture show by designing the set and soundtrack, including a short film titled "The Button."
The rappers’ highly anticipated first campaign for the brand launches later this week.
